WEBINAR on use of modern technologies for members of peer support groups

The first online webinar for members of Network of mine victims and Network of women with disabilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the purpose of better online functioning of peer support groups, was held on Tuesday, 11.05.2020. Webinar is being realized within the project "Communities of Different, but Equal Citizens" funded by European Union, and supported by ITF Slovenia with support of Republic of Korea. Project is implemented by UDAS Organization in partnership with Helsinški parlament građana and association "Nešto Više".

Peer support groups are formed with the aim of easier access to information, providing support and encouragement among people who are in the same or similar situation, and represent a place where people with common problems and needs can share experiences, help each other in difficult times and consequently preserve health and achieve well-being for all members.

Focus of this webinar is capacity building of participants in aforementioned networks for better online functioning, which includes use of available web tools for online communication and working from home, applications and ways of exchanging documents online, as well as security and user protection on Internet and security of their data.

Through online education modules, participation of about 50 persons with disabilities from Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected, with the aim of improving their knowledge of using modern means of communication.

Situation caused by COVID-19 pandemic, which caused preventive measures of social distance, increased need for mutual exchange of experience and information, and increased the need for new knowledge and skills in using tools and platforms for online communication. Also, faced with many problems caused by corona virus, and need to act and take measures to ensure that persons with disabilities are actively involved in social life, it is necessary to improve their skills in using various forms of communication via Internet.
